Executive Board

The Executive Board is responsible for conducting the business management of the Club as well as enforcing its Bylaws.


Jim, a C.P.A, is a principal of Merrill Accountancy Corporation. Jim has 40 years experience in both public and private accounting. He is a past senior V.P. in the banking industry and served as president of the S.F. chapter of the Financial Managers Society. He is active in the Auburn community, having served as president of the Rotary Club, president of the Chamber of Commerce and president of the Auburn Faith Hospital Foundation. He currently serves as chairman of the Auburn Rotary Club’s Investment Committee. Jim is a speaker to many groups on tax and business related topics. Jim and his wife Rosemary have lived in Auburn for 21 years.

Originally from England, Nick has lived in the Bay Area since 1985, moving to Sausalito with his wife Renee in 2010.  Nick is an electrical engineer in the telecom industry, focusing on high-speed broadband access technology.   He has been a member of SYC since 2007 and races his Sabre 40 “Escapade” on the Bay and beyond.  Nick served as Race Chair in 2014 and continues to serve on SYC’s Race Council.

Bill resides in San Anselmo with his wife Jonea and their two children. He has been a member of SYC since 2009 and has been serving on the Race Committee since 2010. Bill currently owns a 40 foot Matthews as well as a Chris Craft runabout, both of which are moored in San Rafael. He has been an active member of the Antique and Classic Boat Society as well as the Classic Yacht Association. Professionally, Bill serves as the chief investment officer of a San Francisco based real estate investment trust.

Larry is a California native residing in Marin for more than 20 years with wife Sharon. Larry is a business executive with 39 years of management experience in the wine industry. He has led sales and marketing teams, managed companies and developed vineyards and wineries. He also served on the board of several companies connected to the wine industry. Outside the industry he has served on committees, chaired committees and served as board president of non-profit organizations. A boat owner of more than 21 years and past PHRF Division Champion, Larry and Sharon have been members of the Sausalito Yacht Club since 2000 and look forward to many more great years at the club.

Jock started sailing as a teenager on a Sunfish on Lake Michigan. He moved from Chicago to Sausalito in 1974 and has been racing on the Bay ever since. He joined the SYC in 1984. He and his wife, Linda, enrolled their son, Erik, in Junior Sailing, and Jock soon became a strong supporter and advocate for the program. In 2006 he was asked to be a director of the Sausalito Youth Sailing Foundation Board and three years later was elected an officer. Jock is a licensed electrical contractor and works for a manufacturing company in Benicia. He and Linda reside in Novato. When on land, Jock enjoys motorcycle riding with the Montgomery Street Motorcycle Club, golfing, and skiing at the family’s cabin near Bear Valley.

Alan has been a member of Sausalito Yacht club since 2005. He was also a member “back in the ’70s” when he and his wife Kathy lived in Sausalito “before children.” They have two grown sons and they have been avid sailors for most of their lives. They own a Newport 30 sailboat, which they have had for seventeen years. They split their sailing time between San Francisco Bay, Santa Barbara and Maui. Alan is a semi-retired insurance broker who held management positions with a number of the largest global insurance brokerage firms. He currently helps one of his former clients with their risk management programs.

treasurer@sausalitoyachtclub.orgJohn has been a CPA since 1972 having started his career with Price Waterhouse & Co.  He moved to Sausalito in 1972 and raced a Ranger 26 for many years.  He has been a member of the SYC for almost 40 years.  With experience in public and private accounting, he started his CPA practice in 1981 in San Francisco.  In 2015 he relocated his office to Sausalito.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of CPAs.  John and his wife Diana reside in Sausalito.
