Youth Sailing at SYC

Summer is coming to an end and we are so happy that many of you were able to join us on the water making for a memorable experience.   It has been a pleasure seeing our young sailors enjoying the bay and improving on their sailing skills.  As we look forward to the Fall, it is becoming increasingly difficult to plan classes that match with your school schedules and the yacht club’s dining & operating hours.

The Fall schedule will shift from day camps to after school  & weekend programs.

In an effort to allow families time to work through schooling options and new schedules we will delay announcing our Fall program schedules until early September.  This will allow us to evaluate and plan for the likelihood of continuing instruction for children that value an interest and growth in sailing.

Here is what we know for sure…

State guidelines for after school youth activities/high school have been released and we are considering all that will be required to run safe programs. Of what we know today, all county health requirements will remain in effect.  Children may only attend one single camp during any three-week period, regardless of how much of the day it occupies. Groups/Cohorts are required to operate in an environment that prompts social distancing.  Face coverings will be mandatory when on land and in the classroom environment.

Sausalito Youth Sailing continues to operate in a manner that promotes safety through established guidelines of physical distancing, while maintaining a clean, sanitized environment for our youth participants, club members and employees of the operation.  We are hopeful that we will develop a schedule that will allow the children to spend quality time on the water and get time away from their distance learning environment.  Sunshine and water is good for the soul and we want to help children find some relief during these challenging times.

Please check this site often as we will post updates as new information arises.

Thank you,
Renee Corpuz-Lahne
Youth Sailing Director
