Single-Handing to Bermuda – Sailing to Raise Awareness of Heart Disease

March 19, 6:30pm

Moe Roddy, Skipper, The Red Dress
Maureen “Moe” McDonough-Roddy, is a world-class sailor, mother and cardiac surgical nurse. She launched the Red Dress Racing Campaign to raise awareness about cardiac disease and inspire women to take control of their health and their lives. In 2005 Moe Roddy and Katie Ambach became the first all women's team to complete the Bermuda One Two, a grueling offshore race in which Moe raced solo from Newport, RI to Bermuda, then teamed with Katie for the double-handed leg back to Newport. In addition to Moe‘s efforts to enlighten, inspire and empower women to learn the risks of heart disease and improve their health, Moe is an avid hiker of Mount Tamalpais, a frequent volunteer on the SYC Race Committee and an active sailor on SF Bay.
