Tamalpais HS Sailing Team

We are constantly adjusting to Covid news surrounding our community and in the life decisions we make for ourselves and our families.

All SYC Youth Programs continue to follow the Marin County Health Guidelines for Summer Camps, offering our first summer session on July 8th and will end on August 13th.  The Pacific Coast Interscolastic Sailing Association has canceled the Fall Season of High School Sailing, this includes team practices.  We are hopeful that we will be able to offer a Fall Program for high school aged sailors, but like so many other businesses we await the release of specific guidelines from our County and State related to offering after school sports activities.

Thank you for your patience and we hope to see your children on the water again soon. Information and future scheduling will be communicated on our website as new information arises.

The Tamalapais High School Sailing team is recognized as a club sport.  The team practices out of Sausalito Yacht Club.  There is a Varsity and JV option.  These teams are selected by the coach.  The Varsity team typically caries 12-14 sailors while the JV team typically caries 6-10.  Prior sailing experience is highly recommended.  The team conducts evaluation each year before the season starts.  Due to facility limitations insterested students with little to no experience may be turned away. There is a fee for participating on the team per Fall and Spring semesters.  Team registration is via Clubspot which can be reached by the link above or below.

About the Coaches:
Coach Renee Corpuz-Lahne has been coaching youth sailing for 15+ years and coaching/organizing the Tam team for 5 years.  She grew up sailing in southern california as well as sailed in college at the University of Hawaii.  Her passion for teaching sailing shows in everything she does with her sailors.  Passing on her love for the sport and years of experience and knowledge help insure this team is a success.

Assistant Coach Sean Engelbrechten graduated from Tam High in 2018.  He sailed on the team as well as on the SYC Racing Team.  His sailing knowledge and commitment to the sport makes him a big asset for the team.  He continues to sail locally as much as he can while attending college at COM.
